It’s a great athletic performance that Kilian Jornet Burgada did, he went up and down from the Cervino (Matterhorn) in less than 3 hours, beating the record held by the Italian Brunod, dated back to 1995. The Catalan athlete reached the top in less than two hours and fell back with a mad rush between walls, crevices, meadows and sliding on snow in 55 minutes. Burgada also holds the record for the Mont Blanc and now he wants to runs to Aconcagua, McKinkley and Everest. Burgada is a skyrunner and as he himself says, what he likes is the life of skyrunner and not only the extreme performance. There are not rational reasons to perform this kind of performance, it’s the inner passion that drives these people and that makes you love the lifestyle necessary to reach these goals. They are an example of how varied it’s the human nature to choose the way to realize ourselves.

A reader wrote asking for a comment:
“on a tennis player Francesca Schiavone as she has a lot of potential and recently in many games when then she earns points she starts to make some rookie mistakes like double errors and direct mistakes. How is this possible?”
I do not follow the matches of Francesca Schiavone and then I have no idea of how many are in percentage terms this kind of errors and how they affect the result, it’s any way possible to talk about these types of errors.
Physical problems – the courts requires optimal physical condition otherwise it’s difficult to maintain the quality of the game. It’s possible to play well some games and then make mistakes even trivial because the body “takes a break” to recovery.
Concentration problems – The concentration is another aspect whose presence must be constant during each game and it’s influenced by the physical shape. It’s also influenced by the thoughts and moods that the athlete develops after an error and therefore it interferes with the ability to refocus on the next game.
Toughness problems – A long sports career also wears the toughness. It is not easy to maintain an high desire to succeed.
Italy is not a country for young people also in that particular job field that is football. According to the data of the Association of Italian football player in the 1999-2000 season were registered 249 foreigners; in 2002-2003, 535; in 2007-2008, 846 (percentage in Premier League of foreigners /Italian 38.72%); in 2009-2010, 1032 (in percentage foreigners/Italian 40.24%); in 2011-2012, 47.82%; in 2012-2013, 50.26%, for a total in Premier League of 774 players. Therefore for the first time more foreigners than Italians. In essence among those who, after many selections, could play in Premier League only one out of two will make that happens, because the excluded will be replaced by a foreigner. It ‘s another example of a nation that does not invest in young people and that for these choices is likely to fail. In fact, it can be said with certainty that from school, university to soccer there are not investments in human, financial and organizational resources to reverse this trend. What psychological effect determines this culture: year after year it shows that there are insuperable limits, that professional competence and determination to succeed are not decisive, and that you will be chosen on the basis of financial decisions that have nothing to do with the sport success. This is so true that in the last years the club well padded of foreigners have not reached any success in the European Cups.
Italian sport is increasingly dominated by women, tennis, fencing, swimming, athletics are an example. It ‘s a phenomenon that reflects what happens in society, in fact even at school the girls perform better than boys and at work is increasingly difficult to limit their success. It’s time that happened, finally 50% of the world is no longer excluded.
Alex Rodriguez, Yankees baseball player, suspended for 211 games with other players suspended for “only” 50 games are another sensational case of doping. This fraud continued apparently without the players care about the sanctions that can affect them. They are still convinced of their decision to take drugs. Here are some reasons that continue to motivate them to this choice.
- Desire to accumulate richness – is possible if the performances are exceptional or are perceived as such.
- Willingness to take risks – to make decisions that involve penal risks counting on the low probability of being caught.
- Opportunity to fraud – many other players are doped, it’s a common practice and there are companies that offer products that serve this purpose.
- Awareness that the controls are ineffective – the probability of being condemned is poor and the large law firms are fundamental weapon of defense.
