Unforgettable day for the Italian sport

Today will be an unforgettable day for Italian sport, the Wimbledon and Wembley finals are coming up. Two of the most iconic venues in world sport, where Italian athletes will be protagonists.

Those who have achieved these goals, Matteo Berrettini and the national soccer team, have faced a difficult path that they have reached not only thanks to their sport skills but also by virtue of their ability to accept the difficulties they were faced with and to know how to win them. They are an example of what Rudyard Kipling wrote, in the poem If, of which two significant lines are written at the entrance of the central court of Wembley: “If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster / And treat those two impostors just the same”.

In a few words, Kipling was able to summarize the deepest meaning of sport, represented by the challenge with oneself, the anxiety that this causes and the ability to overcome this psychological condition to achieve victory.

Every young athlete, coach and parent should remember these ideas and understand how difficult the challenge experienced by athletes is. Take care of our talents.

Roger Federer is back despite his physical limits

Roger Federer probably does not sweat, because that would be a sign of fatigue, which against Cameron Norrie does not seem to be there. He seems to live the match as a sort of boredom, to get to the ones that will then have to engage him. Federer’s gaze is always a focus on the court; it might seem an obvious observation but only some manage to maintain this kind of attention for every point.

He lost the third set but Federer’s attitude hasn’t changed except for some minimal signs of annoyance. His tennis is not physical and in the fourth set at the beginning he seems to pay for this limitation, consequently he reduces the number of exchanges. Norrie understands and starts playing conservatively instead to lengthen them.

Norrie shows his toughness when after having suffered the break on 2-2, the next game he immediately recovers bringing the score back to 3-3. On the 40 for all the next game he pays the tension with a double fault, but still manages to win the game in two points.

Finally, Federer shows himself to be human when on 4 even he goes to 40-15 and for the first time he cheers at the end of the point won.

He wins 6-4, last game really nice points. In the interview Federer shows himself happy and this must give us an idea of how much stress he held back and did not show us during the match.

What is competitiveness for Errani e Vinci

“To accomplish something difficult. To master, manipulate, or organize physical objects, human beings, or ideas. To overcome obstacles and attain a high standard. To rival and surpass others. It has  been written by H.A. Murray nel 1938. This is what Sara Errani e Roberta Vinci showed us today winning Wimbledon.

Marion Bartoli leaves the court

A few weeks after the historic triumph at Wimbledon, Marion Bartoli retires from tennis. The 28-year old French player has announced through her tears, admitting she cannot longer bear the pain caused by her injuries. “My body is starting to fall apart, I managed to hold them together going through the pain during Wimbledon,” said Bartoli after the match lost against the Romanian Halep. “Everyone will remember my title at Wimbledon. None this last game, “continued the French – clarifying how it was “a difficult decision to make. I had the opportunity to turn my biggest dream into reality. And I really pushed myself beyond the extreme limits to make it happen. Now, however – she added – I cannot continue to do it. “
