Il riscaldamento mentale

In most sports cannot be a good start to a race if you do not feel mentally ready. You need to have the feeling that tells you: “I’m ready”. If this is true, why is the warm-up only physical and the mental part is neglected? When the coaches  will be aware not just say, “Ok guys, I recommend focused.”

What does it mean Paralympic Games?

Does anyone remember that August 29th Paralympic Games  will start or the football makes us forget all sports? Is our Olympic soul  just finished?

Psycho topics more relevant for you

The topics of the sport psychology  are so many and cover a very large population ranging from children to adults, parents, to coaches and managers,  to physicians, psychologists and physiotherapists. I would ask to all those who follow this blog to write and share what are for them the most important issues they face in their relationship with the sport. Many of you are from Europe, USA and China, please, send your comments.

When the coach is not a leader

The stories of  Schwazer and Italian swimming both still today in the newspapers show how difficult it is now the coach work even in individual sports. The role of  leader of the pack is not a prerogative of our fellow four-legged, it must also be good for us. When the coach does not play this role and the athletes get out of hand every thing can happen and it is what really happened.   We should learn from Cerioni, the Italian coach of the girls gold foil that he has managed to keep the band together on goal, regardless of the personal relationships between the athletes or listen to the Jamaican sprinters who though opponents have always been among their friendliness and respect. I repeat, a consultant psychologist could help significantly these coaches and many others for whom there is no mention in the newspapers but who commit the same mistakes.

Refocus after one mistake

Many athletes stay focused for a long time, but when they make one mistake it becomes difficult to re-focus themselves on what they have to do. This happens in all sports. I wish to whom is starting a new competitive season to conduct workouts that have the aim of improving this ability to refocus after an error.

Acting for doubting

Reinhold Messner has written: “We go to the mountains also to have doubts about ourselves.” Apply it to all forms of performance.

Errors of the Italian swim coach

Italian swimming coach Claudio Rossetto and coach of  Filippo Magnini and Federica Pellegrini, speaking in an interview to a magazine said: “I deserve full insufficiency. I have my faults. But everyone must take responsibility. I underestimated the situation. I thought that so many heads, so many samples, they could live together. Instead, it was an error. The media too ambitious, looking for results for the front-page headlines, and the athletes themselves get sucked by those involved in sports and even gossip. The truth? Swimming is an old team. The same Federica, swim despite eight years, is already a long experience. Now we need to start over. ” Ok, no need to stress further this error, however, why none of the managers of swimming federation professional has faced  with a professional approach this issue concerning the opportunity to manage many athletes. Personally, I think this choice was made because there are only coaches and not managers, whose presumption has led them to underestimate the difficulties. Especially at the Olympics they did not understand that there is not  a second chance, or it is  good or bad.
