Many adults do not play the role of educator

In this last month I worked with the young who participated in the Training Course to become future leaders of the sport , promoted by Lazio Region in Italy.

It has been a significant to me, because it confirmed that young people want to engage and commit but they have problem to achieve what they want, because they are also left alone without a guide. Adults, whether parents or teachers of the University, say, “Do it” but they did not explain how to be able to do well in an effective and efficient manner. You may be wondering why they have not yet learned, but the answer does not change. Even going back to teens the answer is that parents and teachers did not help enough to figure out how to improve and what it’s the process that allows to move forward without wasting time. Besides the economic difficulties certainly do live in these years, at these young adults have been added others that depend exclusively on the family and social environment in which they grew up. Their parents did apparently everything: a house and money for their expenses. But this is not enough, they needed this aid but they also need how to learn to study or why it’s fine to do errors but in the same to come back immediately to your path, or even if the technology (mobile , facebook , playstation ) is fine but it should not take time and energy to work. We cannot expect them to learn all by yourself, because then the years go by without knowing that you are wasting time. I think that in many cases there is not this mental education for lack of adults’ accountability, who are happy to just meet the basic needs of social life without to play the  role of educator.

The worst thought

The worst thought:

“You can’t do that, that’s not how we’ve always done it!”

Think:

“If you can change your mind, you can change your life.” (William James)

How we are strange

How we are strange:

  • you lose more than win
  • it’s easy to get injured
  • it’s a short career
  • you are old in sport when others are still young
  • you must follow a lifestyle hard enough
  • many athletes live a nomad life
  • you have always give the best and often it’snot enough
  • if you do not win it spreads the idea that you’re finished

nevertheless the passion that governs us makes us continue against any kind of logic.

Physical education in Italy: where is it?

MOVEMENT IS LIFE – the Cinderella of education, “gymnastics” is often considered only in its recreational function. “Movement is life, physical inactivity the fourth leading cause of death” – says Alberto Cei, sports psychologist, professor at the School of Sport, Italian Olimpic Committee – which instead emphasizes the importance for the development of the fundamental dimensions of personality: sociability, intelligence sensory-motor, self-regulation of emotions, self-control, coordination, self-esteem, “the feel good in your own skin.” Read on Corriere della Sera

The football bad side

Brett Favre doesn’t have a son, but if he did: “I would be real leery of him playing” football.” In some respects, I’m almost glad I don’t have a son because of the pressures he would face.”  In October, Favre said that at age 44 he’s facing “scary” memory issues linked to on-field concussions. “I think after 20 years, God only knows the toll,” the ex-Green Bay Packer told a Washington, D.C. radio station last month, adding that he could not recall an entire season of his daughter’s soccer games.

These brain damage also affect other former players. For example, Tony Dorsett, former star of the Dallas Cowboys, has just this disease: acute encephalopathy caused by trauma. Unequivocal symptoms afflict Tony and two other ex, Leonard Marshall (NY Giants) and Joe Delamielleure (Buffalo Bills).

The NFL has recently paid an astronomical amount for the damages caused to the players and the causes are not over there. The question is simply vital to the present/future of the National Football League and the game in general. The problem is not simple, as it is about playing safe the football without distorting it. For too long has not done anything but now the situation is exploding in all its drama.

Focus in shot skill

During the seminar on Mental Training, that will be held in Roma at Olimpic Committee, Scuola dello Sport, Francesco D’Aniello, who won two world championships and silver medalist at Beijing will talk about his experience during the Olimpic final, so well reviewed through these words:

<<If you think to the result, you increase your distress   …   During the Olympic final I knew that all the people watched me   … but my mind were only on the tasks to perform   …   I knew that the Chinese had my same score and this fact could destroy me   … therefore I told me: now if  I make an error he eats me   …   At the moment that I became aware  that I could make an error … I focused myself only on my technique.>>

Napoli unsuccessful emotional condition

Yesterday I wondered who between Juventus and Napoli would have shown the will to win from the start of the game and Juve did it from the first moment. It would be useful to understand why this state of mind it has been demonstrated by Napoli only during the second time it has provided, as we say, “a proof of pride.” In my opinion an experienced coach like Benitez should have parameters to determine if before an important game his team is in the best emotional state to face an opponent that you know the game system and as well you know the fighting spirit that, his coach, Conte is able to convey to his players. With this awareness, you go in knowing what  it’s very likely to happen the field and that really did take place. Of course the players are not robots that perform the Benitez’s order, however, a team that wants to win cannot enter the pitch with that attitude. So I think it is important for Napoli to understand how the attitude of the players has been so dismissive, you may be inferior in terms of quality of play, but not in relation to the will to face to the best of your abilities the opponents. The only one who has shown a positive approach was Reina, the Napoli goalkeeper, who has played his role with determination. Napoli needs to improve its ability to go in the field with the emotional condition allowing to play a game with determination, otherwise the class of individual players and the team will remain locked in a drawer where you’ve lost the key.

Juventus-Napoli: who wants to win?

Juventus and Napoli face off tonight, an important game not only for the 3 points that approach the Roma who wins, but also for the positive effect that this result will have on the team self-esteem. With different words, Mazzarri and Conte will explain to the players what it must happen in the pitch and what they want to avoid that happening. We’ll see who of the two will be able to make happen what that they have planned in these days. Will they  go into the field with the same will to win? The match will be beautiful if we will see intensity, speed, fighting spirit and ideas.
