Conte can do the difference

Interview on newspaper Tuttosport:

“It ‘s a mistake to think that a team can have the same attitude, no matter what is the competition. The competitive pressure is determined not only by the opponents but also from the environment, the context, the expectations. For Juventus, for example, it was “easier”  to face Chelsea in a match in which it had little to lose than the Nordsjaelland. When the team knows to have only one good result, it enters in the field with a different state of mind. ”

“In such cases the absence of the coach weighs. The presence of  Conte, with his approach as a commander in chief, would be of great help. Helping out in the championship there is no need, the team does not feel the need but in the Champions League can make a difference. ”

The “syndrome draw” the matches is already there. Now it’s the time to solicitate the team pride . ”

Juve and Roma: same problem in different events?

Few days ago, in the match between Juventus and Roma , the first one has crushed the other for determination and will to win. In the next match against Genoa, Roma went immediately trailing by two goals, also for the lack of determination of its players. Then its captain, francesco Totti scored a goal and the attitude on the field has changed and Roma won 4-2.

Yesterday in the Champions League, Juventus have approached the Danish team, obviously lower level, but instead, they score a goal and only in the second time of the match Juventus managed to equalize.

Juve in the Italian champioship makes the lion’s share but in Europe it has not been able to show the same attitude. Rome needs to take two slaps before starting to play as well as it knows. For both it is a matter of conviction, Juve does not show it abroad  and Roma does not show it in the first part of the game. This is their task for the immediate future: playing with conviction regardless of the type of competition (Italian championship  or  Champions League) or the period of the game (ebeginning or later periods).

Neurosis and sport

I was asked how sport neurosis raises. Like any behavior and mood even those that limit significantly the life of a person arising from perceived distance between the expectations and the characteristics of the situation that is facing. If the self-efficacy is reduced and the indivual must to perform at the best level, then at this point it may arise a psychological disorder. Thorpe, the swimmer, wrote tha he hate the training but at the same time he was forced to find within himself the conviction to train with the intensity needed to win again the Olympics. He’s been very well written by Agassi, when during the game he decided that he would lose because he was no longer able to continue to play well, because he hated tennis. He said Schwarzer when he explained that he doped because it could no longer support the role he and everyone expected him to continue to play. These are the risks they face those who live the sport as the only way to reach the self-realization, it’s an extreme mental state which separates them from the others, with which often they do not share their fears. So they isolate themselves and their mind becomes a prison; doping, alcohol and drugs can all too easily become the only friends.

The Naple’s poor determination

The problem is not that Napoli has hardly ever shot on goal or, as has been said in TV by Caressa, the game was changed from two separate episodes. It needs to understand how it has come to these two facts, otherwise we confuse the effects with the causes. Footballers of Naples are certainly committed but obviously not enough. This is because not enough commitment, you also want to get a result. Let me explain. Commitment is a prerequisite without which any discussion on the performance becomes void, but you have to engage with a purpose, otherwise you may only run. This has been my perception of the game of Naples: a lot of effort but not aimed at a result. For example, you have to deal with an opponent and this commitment is the means to achieve the intended purpose, which is to take the ball. In my opinion, part of the responsibility of the coach of Naples in the days before the match against Juventus has been to say that he was tired and he would like to take a rest at the end of the season. But as you can, before such an important match, transmit determination with sentences of this type. Phrases showing that Mazzarri undergoes stress rather than dominate and that affect the belief of the team in its-self. But why does not he think before to speak if what he says is useful to the team?

Basejumer survive to an incredible situation

A Norwegian basejumper has a lucky escape after the high bar he launched off snapped, sending him over the edge of a 1,200m cliff. Surgeon Richard Henriksen had meant to somersault off the high bar, but the apparatus broke and he was sent hurtling off the edge of the mountain. Fortunately he avoided hitting the rock face and was able to open his parachute.

Fiorenzo Magni is died, he was the last cyclist of the Italian golden age

“Another story I remember with joy and which teaches that nothing in life is impossible regards the Tour of Italy in 1956. It was the last tour of  my career and I fell down from Volterra and I broke my collarbone. The next day I fell again on the fracture and the ambulance wanted to take me to the hospital. I faced the ascent of Mount Bondone with broken collarbone and ended the Tour in second place. We must always look forward and never rest. I now point to one hundred years and it is not a joke. ”

Fiorenzo Magni, 92 years old is died. He is the last cyclist of the golden age with Fausto Coppi and Gino Bartali

Youngs spend few time outdoor

Often the countries of Northern Europe hit me for the simple and direct questions that arise, as well as the solutions they find. This time in Britain they have asked ourselves the question: How often do your children play outside? More or less than when you were a child? Have safety fears make you keep your children at home? The government cuts have reduced opportunities to play sports close to home?

So there it arises the problem of the need to increase the time that young people spend outdoors and in a natural environment because it is considered as necessary for their well-being and development of personal autonomy. Therefore it is hoped that adults are increasingly aware of this need and act accordingly. Meanwhile, in Britain this week was the launch of the Love Oudoor Play Campaign (http://loveoutdoorplay.net/).

In the same in  Italy we are still debating whether to increase the hours of physical education to school without reaching a settlement, when we enter … maybe someone will put this further question, namely that for the youngs are not given enough hours and we will have to do something more. Perhaps our grandchildren will enjoy  of this changes … those who in the meantime did not leave for another country.

Fight against the pressure

Napoli football coach said it could take a break from his job at the end of this season. It is not the first to assert the need for a break from football, Guardiola has already done. This comment allows me to talk about the book by Hubert Ripoll “Le mental des coachs” which presents the story of 42 sports coaches and athletes, which also speaks of what is for them the pressure. At this regard, the perceived pressure of the coach, it says:

“You have to be strong in the head to withstand the constant pressure. Everything is played out on a wire, from heaven to hell in a few milliseconds or millimeters. Disillusionment, despair are first and foremost for the athletes but also the coach can suffer of it. To address them, there is the need  a balanced personality and a great emotional stability. This occurs when the coach is able to distance himelf/herself from the events without denying them. Adopt an attitude while remaining positive transparencies. First of all, we must not turn on themselves. This feeds in the first place of the values of the coach and his motivation. But this is not enough when the pressure is so strong: the public, outside, the players, inside. ”

Learn how to manage the loneliness and the choices of tough times, this it seems to be the job of the coach that wants to win those stresses and remaining the leader of the athletes.

Sport and politics in UK

Since 2010 that the British government allocates millions of pounds for training sports culture of the students. Maria Miller, Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport of the British government, proposed and obtained an investment of 17 million pounds for the full refining (over five years) school sports. It will create 150 jobs for full-time professionals to be included in this program, which will be called “College Sport Makers”, which will help young people to develop stable sport attitudes. The interest, therefore, is entirely focused on youth sports, knowing that the equipments and infrastructures, build in London for the Olympics and the Paralympics, are a huge advantage to be exploited for students. The investment will be provided by the National Lottery.

“Too many children – says Richard Lewis, Chair of Sport England – drop out of sport when they leave school, as it gets squeezed by competing demands like studying, work and relationships. We want College Sport Makers to remind young people how much fun sport is and to help them build it into their schedules so they develop a sporting habit for life.”

In addition to this investment of 17 million pounds, for sports training, there will be a fund of 3 million pounds, which will be available in the form of small grants to colleges to pay for new equipments or transports. The initiative will be funded for a total of £ 1 billion reserved for Sport England for the next five years.
