Tennis tricks to avoid

Tennis presents many types of challenges that often catch players off guard.

One of these is to play a hard-fought game, in which advantages alternate from court to court until one of the two tennis players wins it. Very often the following game is won again by the same player with ease.

Another trick occurs when one goes into a clear lead e.g. 3-0 or 5-3 and suddenly the one who is ahead starts to think that he has already won the set and starts to stop thinking about the game to the result. It is not uncommon for the opponent to win the set despite this disadvantage and this is because of the relaxation of the thoughts of the one who was ahead, who suddenly becomes distracted by his own thoughts centered on winning and no longer on how to win.

A third trick is to attach too much importance to the opponent. It happens when one thinks: he/she is stronger than me, his/her game bothers me, he/she steals balls, I have already lost to him/her, and so on. Thinking in this way crystallizes the opponent’s qualities and so we no longer think about what we should do to win points much less focus on how our opponent loses points. In short, we magnify the opponent who becomes unbeatable for us before the match even begins … how do you can think about your own game with these thoughts.

Obviously, mental coaching taught to the young tennis player by an experienced counselor can address and solve these problems so common in tennis.
