“Too Small to Fail” very useful for parents and adults

Read Too Small to Fail very useful for parents and adults.

Focusing. Creating. Cooperating. Communicating. These are all important skills children learn when we play with them! Through play, children learn how to problem solve, work together, explore physical movements, overcome challenges, and much more. Play helps children develop critical social-emotional and language skills that will help prepare them for success in school and in life.

As children’s first and best playmates, parents and caregivers play a powerful role in nurturing these skills from birth. Here are a few tips on how you can encourage learning through play:

  • Make the most of your time playing with your child. From they day they are born, children learn through the everyday moments they share with their parents and caregivers. Check out these helpful tips from ZERO TO THREE.

Keep a box of everyday objects like plastic bottles, empty containers or old clothes for dress up. These are great items to help children spark their imagination. Through creative play, children explore the world in their own way, which is important for learning and development. Check out Raising Children Network for fun creative play activities.

What mistake to be frightened of having problems in the race

For top athletes the most difficult thing is to maintain the performance continuity  in the same competition; that it takes place in one day and on more days. One of the aspects which limits their performance is the expectation of getting a winning result to which they can aspire legitimately because they have the skills. But it is not enough to be fit or feel ready to provide this type of performance, because for the reason of this opportunity you have to beat your worst enemy that is the performance anxiety. It is this combination of moods and thoughts that when they appear at the athletes’ consciousness represent the final test they must overcome, otherwise mistakes and poor performances will soon be there. It’s in these moments, which always occur in the races, the athletes have to do their work,, managing the fears and everything that could limit their full expression in the race. Instead  they have to go in into the fear, beginning to destroy it through those skills learned with mental coaching. It’s time to use them. Not just having learned them they will not be anxious, they must humbly and patiently recognize that they are living a moment emotionally disturbing and take action to overcome it. I fear that sometimes athletes are convinced that these negative situations are unlikely to occur, in that they follow a mental coaching program. This is a big mistake. They act like those who knew how to solve a problem, rather to be committed to solve it, they think to it as something they would not to have. Obviously in this case the problem is not deleted and it will procuct all its destructive force.

You should sit in nature 20 minutes a day

Having problems is a problem for you?

Did you train yourself with this mindset? Or you have the bad habit to believe that having problems is a problem.

The greatest battles we ever win are the battles that we win against our fears and worries.

Global fitness: Give yourself the winning advantage

In business, as in sport, the competitive arena is now worldwide. Technical and tactical advantages are rapidly disappearing. With deadlines tighter and pressure to perform increasing, the ability to control concentration and emotions is critical. That’s where we come in. Our performance-enhancement systems combine sport and business psychological research to give you the winning edge. When we use terms like coaching, team building, and competition, we know what we’re talking about.

PAY ATTENTION

Ask yourself what the best business executives have in common with elite athletes and Navy SEALS — the ability to pay attention, to avoid becoming distracted and remain focused on the task at hand. Whether you are a business executive or an athlete — you can’t perform effectively if you can’t concentrate. Mistakes break deals and lose games.

THE INVENTORY

EPS has developed the most effective tool in the industry for assessing attentional and interpersonal skills enabling individuals, teams, and companies to perform better. Unlike many other programs, Enhanced Performance Systems employs a performance-based instrument — The Attentional & Interpersonal Style (TAIS) inventory — to gain crucial information useful over a wide range of applications from executive coaching to employee selection and screening.

TAIS inventory is a 144-item, performance-based, self-report inventory. Derived from the Theory of Attentional and Interpersonal Style, TAIS inventory provides a direct link between the concentration and personality characteristics measured and performance. TAIS is designed to increase the ability to understand, predict, and control behavior of highly effective individuals. It is the only inventory of its kind in the world.

GIVE MORE THAN LIP SERVICE TO COACHING

It is no surprise that sports metaphors are widely used in business. Both arenas employ strategic planning, emphasize competition, and demand performance under pressure. TAIS has been used to enhance the performance of some of the world’s most talented athletes and teams. Why is it an advantage to have a background in sport and coaching and an instrument that has been tested in the athletic arena? Because, unlike in business where mistakes may take years to be detected and where improvements are often measured subjectively, in sport, it’s crystal clear what works and what doesn’t. You can’t charm your way to a four-minute mile and money won’t buy you a seventy at Pebble Beach Golf Course.

In that athlete category are you?

There are different categories of athletes:

  • those that are still pleased with their performances and results and know that they must improve
  • those who are very anxious and do not know how to manage their expectations and those of other
  • those living competitive sport as an excuse not to study or engage in other activities
  • those who should stop believing to expect to have a sport career and should engage in another things

Sport psychology 50 years since the 1° International Congress

Interesting and very usful article by Fabio Lucidi titled  ”From Rome 1965 to Rome 2015: Sport psychology fifty years since the first International Congress”, Giornale Italiano di Psicologia, XLII, 3, 2015, 381-394.

Abstract

The first International Congress of Sport Psychology took place on April the 20th, 1965, in the Auditorium of the Italian Olympic Committee in Rome. The Congress, marking the beginning of Modern Era of this scientific field, was organized by a small group of pioneers, led by the Italian psychiatrist Ferruccio Antonelli. Exactly fifty years after, this historical occasion has been celebrated in the very same place of the Italian Olympic Committee Centre, in Rome, during the «International Society of Sport Psychology» 50th Anniversary’ Seminar. This recurrence represents the occasion to reflect on the past, and on the way in which the political and social facts have influenced the development of this scientific field and on the future, namely on the opportunities that it may reserve for sport psychologists.

#Respect Silent Weekend

The English football federation promotes the program  Respect Silent Weekend. During the chidren matches coaches and spectators have to remain silent to raise awareness of the need to create a positive and pressure-free environment in which children can enjoy football and learn to love and develop in the game.  It is not mandatory for youth leagues to take part but the Federation hope they will opt in and encourage their member clubs to take part and spread awareness of this fantastic initiative.

Hanan Al Hroub: the best teacher in the world is in Palestine

Hanan Al Hroub is the winner of the 2016 Global Teacher Prize.  Hanan Al Hroub, from Samiha Khalil High School, Al-Bireh, Palestine, grew up in Bethlehem refugee camp where she was regularly exposed to acts of violence. She went into primary education after her children were left deeply traumatised by a shooting incident they witnessed on their way home from school. She specialises in supporting children traumatised by violence. “I am proud to be a Palestinian female teacher standing on this stage. I accept this as a win for all teachers in general and Palestinian teachers in particular,” Al Hroub said. ”We, as teachers can build the values and morals of young minds to ensure a fair world, a more beautiful world and a more free world. “The future seems far and ambiguous, however, when you are involved in making it, the world represents a light.”

Her teaching is based on the following idea “No to violence through playing and learning,”

“We must teach our children that our only weapon is knowledge and education.”
